The A1:8 Movement: ordinary people, empowered by God's spirit, doing what Jesus did, together, wherever they are.
Our heart for Congo began to grow in December 2011 when I signed up to go on a mission trip. The team had been to Uvira once before to assist the orphanage in June of 2011. From that trip the orphanage had been blessed with land, clean water, working latrines, some bedrooms, and a generator. Everyone at the orphanage was thankful for the help our team had provided.
This year the orphans desire hope for a better tomorrow through the mediums of education, close community, medical care, and opportunities for safe and fun play. I was very excited to assist with medical care by teaching the children the importance of daily hygiene. Also, to help document this experience through photography to bring the story home to our church, family, and friends.
After my first meeting for this mission, hearing everyones stories of being there last year, I was reassured that God is calling me to this place.
As God has been faithful, I am fortunate to have the opportunity to share my faith and help these orphans.
